My Blogs

Welcome to my Blog!  Or, perhaps I should say - welcome to my Blogs.  (Visit the DonnaBlog)

Over the years I’ve had several incarnations of my blog.  If you’re new here, perhaps I should start with some history.

I started the DonnaBlog in June 2004.  At the time blogs weren’t nearly as easy or as prevalent as they are now.  I had two specific reasons for starting it.

First, I remember how helpful that some of the early websites that I found on the internet were for me in my own process of acceptance but it eventually became apparent that many of these websites weren’t being actively managed or updated.  In other words, they had been abandoned by owners who had either moved on in life, had lost interest, or had simply disappeared.  I wanted to find a way to demonstrate that my own website was alive, that it was being actively updated, and I decided that the best way was to add a blog to it.

Second, I had learned first hand how empowering it can be to share some of the simple things that happen in our day-to-day lives.  There are those who might think that having a blog is some sort of self-indulgent opportunity to soap-box, to whine, the preach, or to otherwise carry on a one-side conversation with a world of faceless strangers and I suppose that’s true in a way.  But it’s also a window into someone’s world that can provide insight into how they think, how they feel, and how they’re doing as much as anything else so long as the author is willing to share that deeply.  I’m careful about sharing too much, although I suppose it’s easy to cross that line from time to time.

I lead a life that’s sometimes pretty interesting and sometimes pretty mundane, and when I started the Blog I had no idea where the tides of life would carry me.  Reading back over the entries and looking back over the photos that I’ve embedded there is like re-living a time capsule of my own life.  I keep the entire thing available for anyone who wants to read that much or spend that much time digesting.  It’s honest, it’s open, it’s human, and if you ever meet me you’ll see that the way I think is the way I write is the way I am.  It really is that simple.

For the first several years (June 2004-May 2008) my blog was embedded as simple web pages in my website.  Eventually it became easier to use existing Blogging tools to maintain it so I made the move to Wordpress (2008-2009).  But eventually my Wordpress blog got hacked to the point that I began to look for other, less vulnerable, options.  Today, in 2010 as I write this, the current incarnation has been on Blogger for quite a while with very few issues.

This page includes links to my current blog, as well as all my previous ones as well.  Feel free to roam around and share my world.
